Idol

While the elections start to take center stage here, “American Idol,” which is back on its sixth season, has been the big hit in the United States. Come to think of it, the two are not very different. Both seem to provide the public with great entertainment and at the end of the day, it is the public that decides who the people’s “Idol” will be.

Real-life relationships cannot be built solely on a Valentine’s Day card greeting or a motel room quickie, and the same can be said of political affiliations. Election periods are rife with political opportunism and marriages of convenience. And just like in real life, these usually don’t last very long.

Coming home

I went to my high school homecoming last weekend. It has been 25 years since my batch graduated, and I can’t believe how quickly those years have gone by. This would only be my second homecoming since graduation. I’m not big on reunions, but I figure you only celebrate a quarter century milestone once.
