KASAYSAYAN NG WESTERN BICUTAN

Ang Barangay Western Bicutan, Taguig, Kalakhang Maynila ay matatagpuan sa dulo at Hilaga/Kanlurang bahagi nga baying Taguig. Ito ay nasasa pagitan ng Makati sa Hilaga, maliit na bahagi ng Parañaque sa Timog at sa bahaging Silangan naman ay ang kabayanan ng Taguig. May lawak itong ektarya at humigit kumulang na 24,000 mamamayan. Ang mga nasasaklawang lugar ng Barangay na ito ay ang FTI Complex, Veteran’s Center of the Philippines Complex, Ft. Bonifacio Tenement Building, Bagong Lipunan Condominium (BLC), Technological University of the Philippines (TUP), PNR Site East Service Road, Sitio Sto. Niño Zone 4 at Zone 5, at gayundin ang Lot 2 nito na kapwa napapaloob sa Presidential Proclamation 172, RSBS, KKK, Manpower, Officer’s Village, Sitio Una, Sitio 2 at Sitio 3 na kung saan din matatagpuan ang Nutrition Center, ASEAN at Popcom, bahagi ng Fort Bonifacio at ang Libingan ng mga Bayani o National Shrine. Isang barangay na ang nasasakupang lawak ay halos ika-8 bahagi ng Taguig. Animo’y pulo-pulo ang paninirahan ng mga mamamayan at marahil ito ang kakaiba at natatanging barangay sa buong kapuluan na kung saan ang bawat bahagi nito ay may iba’t ibang ahensiya ng Pamahalaan ang umuukupa nito sa bawat panig.

Sa bahaging alamat ng Western Bicutan, so Gng. Constancia Tolentino sa ngayo’y 75-taon gulang at kasalukuyang naninirahan sa Tenement na anak ng isang sundalo ay nanirahan dito noong siya’y 5 hanggang 13 taon gulang bago siya nagbalik at muling naninirahan dito sa Tenement. Noong panahon tayo ay sinakop ng mga Amerikano, ang bahaging ito, diumano’y napapaloob sa Fort McKinley. Ang kampong ito ay siyang ginamit na sanayan ng mga sundalo. Ang bahagi ng kalawakan ng kampong ito ay tinatawag noon pa man na Bicutan. Ito diumano ay matalahib at magubat na hitik ng mga punong kahoy na tulad ng ipil, kakawate, duhat, mangga, siniguelas, acacia at iba pa. dito aniya sila nangunguha ng mga bungang kahoy. Bagama’t panganib sa kanila ang iba’t ibang makamandag na ahas at ang pagsawa sa kanila ng mga MP (sundalo) na mga nakasakay sa kabayo at may makakapal na bota. Ito diumano ay bulubundukin kung kaya tinatawag itong bundok ng taga ibaba ng Taguig. Ang gawing harapan naman diumano ng kampo ay malawak na palayan.

DRAINAGE SYSTEM / FLOOD CONTROL: WASTE DISPOSAL / MANAGEMENT:
The Barangay Government has created the position of Garbage Coordinator to assist the Municipal Waste Management Office in the daily collection of garbages in the barangay. Also, the barangay has tasks all purok leaders to monitor and protect their respective areas from illegal garbage dumping and to report all uncollected garbages in their areas.
