Fort
Bonifacio’s landscape is ever changing:
High-rise condominiums, office buildings,
and commercial centers sprout up here and
there, making their mark on the area’s
skyline—and catching up with Taguig’s
grand vision for the city. The City of Taguig
is driven by purpose, compelled by its 2020
vision to be the Philippines’ premier
city withFort Bonifacio Global City as the
metro’s leading central business district.
Once called Fort William McKinley, the 2,578-hectare
former army camp is Metro Manila’s
fastest developing area. Once called Fort
William McKinley, the 2,578-hectare former
army camp is Metro Manila’s fastest
developing area. Increased demand for office
space signal that businesses recognize the
value of the self-contained district. Hongkong
and Shanghai Bank is consolidating all of
its backroom operations in the HSBC Centre.
The building boom has also drawn commercial
developments like Forbes Town Center; produced
upscale residential condos like One McKinley
Place; and enticed foreign educational institutions
the likes of the International School, British
School, Japanese School, and Victory Leadership
International to move to the locale so close
to prime residential subdivisions and exclusive
clubs and golf courses. Moreover, foreign
diplomatic representatives such as the Singapore
Embassy have already shown their trust in
the Taguig city government and its vision
by acquiring a property and is expected
to transfer to their new premises by 2008.
Rising City Center
Fort Bonifacio will soon be the site of
the country’s premier all-in-one event
facility, featuring a world-class coliseum
and convention center along with a hotel,
office buildings, service apartments, shopping
center, and other recreational establishments.
This development will be built on a 3.5-hectare
property development across Market! Market!
and is a collaboration between the City’s
current administration and various private
sector investors.—evidence of the
Taguig’s coming of age as the Philippines’
premier city.
