One
of the city’s resounding battlecry
the Filipino saying, “Lahat panalo
kapag sama sama tayo,” or, “We
all win when we work together.” On
a community level, Taguig officials continuously
organize events and activities that inspire
teamwork, unity and civic pride. In the
same spirit of unity, the City of Taguig
has teamed up with the public and private
sector in order to elevate the city to its
premier status, from its education system,
social welfare, to its development.
Educational Allies
Taguig continually works to improve education
and increase global awareness amongst its
students. In January 2006, the City joined
forces with The National Geographic Channel
(NGC) to launch a multimedia-instruction
project “Sharing One Vision, Bringing
Global Education to the Filipino Youth.”
Supported by the Department of Education,
it delivers the National Geographic’s
quality programs and in depth features to
public schools. Students also benefit from
a values education program conducted by
Mayor Tiñga himself.
Other assistance has secured better education
for the city’s youth. A loan from
Logofind helped to add to the City’s
new classrooms while partnerships with the
private sector, various non-government organizations,
and government agencies have enabled Taguig’s
Office of Social Welfare Development to
award scholarships to 7,600 students.
Shared Welfare Projects
The Taguig Health Department started a safe
motherhood and childcare program in Lower
Bicutan and Signal Village thanks to the
support of the World Health Organization,
which provided Basic Emergency, Management
and Obstetrical Care and donated P1.2 million
worth of medical supplies needed to provide
safer pregnancies.
In a joint venture with the Local Government
Units of Sta. Fe, Nueva Vizcaya, Quezon
and North Cotabato, the Taguig Cooperative
Development Office launched the Food Security
and Poverty Alleviation Program, will create
a ready market for high quality agricultural
and livestock products at low prices.
Collaboration of great minds
The Taguig Development Forum, initiated
by Mayor Tiñga, assembled elected
leaders, past and present, from varied political
affiliations for a discussion on the city’s
Vision 2020 development plan. These platforms
unite citizens and leaders alike under one
cause: a shared vision to bring about the
future Taguig, a premier city with a highly
professionalized and united government.
