Jan 12, 2010
A housewife, believed to be mentally-deranged, stabbed and killed her five-year-old son and wounded her two in-laws inside their home in Brgy. Upper Bicutan, Taguig City Monday afternoon.
Taguig Police chief, Sr. Supt. Camilo Pancratius Cascolan identified the arrested suspect as Annylyn Agutaya, a resident of Block 109, Lot 4, Sitio Imelda, Upper Bicutan, Taguig.
The suspect was inside their house when she allegedly snapped and upon getting hold of a kitchen knife stabbed her son Zyron Agutaya, 5; her mother-in-law Eufrocina Agutaya, 60; and sister-in-law Jennelyn Agutaya, 26, who were all caught by surprise.
Taguig Mayor Freddie R. Tiñga condoled with the family and assured them of the city’s help through free funeral and burial services, the father of the victim being a Taguig Citycard holder. Mayor Tiñga also offered to shoulder hospital expenses for the two wounded victims.
Taguig’s Women and Children Protection Center head, Chief Insp. Delia Jacob-Ingalla said the suspect was in a postpartum stage after having given birth to her second child just a week ago.
Witnesses said Annylyn has been suspiciously quiet Monday morning and at about 2:30 p.m. that day, she suddenly grabbed a knife and attacked the unsuspecting victims.
Ingalla said that upon her arrest, investigators failed to talk to the suspect who just gave them a blank stare, and at times would smile by herself.
Agutaya was immediately admitted to the National Center for Mental Health in Mandaluyong.
Proper charges are being readied against the suspect.
