WOMEN’S MONTH CELEBRATIONS TO KICK OFF IN TAGUIG

Thousands of women and women’s rights advocates, including key government officials and celebrities, will converge in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, on March 1, to kick off the celebrations of the International Women’s Month here in the country.
Monday’s celebrations will commence with a march around Fort Bonifacio, dubbed “A Walk for Women’s Rights” led by Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Commissioner and Olympian Akiko Thompson, Philippine Commission on Women Commissioner Evelyn S. Dunuan, and Taguig First Lady Kaye C. Tinga.
According to Mrs. Tinga, Taguig’s overall committee head, the event seeks to educate women on their role important role in her family and in the society.
“It is high time that every woman knows and understands her rights, to guard herself against discrimination and violence. More importantly, she needs to realize her strengths and potential on how she can help improve not only her own life and but also her family and her community,” Mrs. Tinga said.
The day’s event will be highlighted by seminars on the Magna Carta of Women, Health Beauty and Wellness. Different business opportunities and skills training particularly scents and fragrance making, flower and balloon arrangement and gift wrapping will also be presented to benefit thousands of women.
Aside from the seminars, free beauty, health and wellness services for women, such as haircut and hair treatments (Reyes Haircutters), facial treatments (Flawless), facial makeover (Luminare Beauty Products and Frank Provost), massage (Spa Essentials) and health and wellness counseling (Cory Quirino, Abs Bitter Herbs, and Welch’s).
Medical check up and consultations such as pap smear, breast exams, blood screening, FBS, and blood pressure monitoring will likewise be available.
