The Philippine Textile Research Institute (PTRI) was formally established by the National Science Development Board (NSDB) on January 03, 1967, as an agency to undertake the Textile Research Program. In 1974, by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 1, PTRI became a regular agency of NSDB. On June 26, 1981, PTRI was transferred to the Ministry of Industry for purposes of policy and program coordination as prescribed under executive Order No. 700.Then on January 30, 1987, Executive Order No. 128 reorganized the National Science and Technology Authority (NSTA) and provided among others, the return of PTRI to the NSTA now the Department of Science and Technology.For more information, you can log on to their official website http://www.ptri.dost.gov.ph/

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) was established through the enactment of Republic Act No. 7796 otherwise known as the “Technical Education and Skills Development Act of 1994″, which was signed into law by President Fidel V. Ramos on August 25, 1994. This Act aims to encourage the full participation of and mobilize the industry, labor, local government units and technical-vocational institutions in the skills development of the country’s human resources.The merging of the National Manpower and Youth Council (NMYC) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). The Bureau of Technical and Vocational Education (BTVE) of the Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS), and The Apprenticeship Program of the Bureau of Local Employment (BLE) of the DOLE gave birth to TESDA.
