The various Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODA) in Taguig City have joined hands to offer free tricycle rides on April 23 in connection with the celebration of the city’s 425th Foundation Day.

The program dubbed “LibrengSakay: PagpupugaysaSipag ng MangagawangTagigenyo” is the first-ever activity of its kind to be done in Taguig and backed by 54 participating tricycle organizations with a combined membership of about 4,000.

According to Al Yap, officer-in-charge of the Taguig Transport Office, commuters can enjoy free tricycle rides within the Food Terminal Inc. (FTI) complex for the entire day as well as within the area of District 2.

On the other hand, tricycle groups operatingin other areas of Taguig will give commuters free rides from 5:00 am to 9:00 am and from 4:00 pm up to 8:00 pm.

“The working class people are our intended beneficiaries of this project. If you noticed, our schedules are set in the morning, when people go to work, and in the afternoon, when they go back home or in the market,” Yap said.

Mayor Lani Cayetano, meanwhile, commended the tricycle operators and drivers for the meaningful and practical project aimed at helping poor residents of Taguig.

“I am glad because of the participation of TODA in this important event in our city. The tricycle operators and drivers have shown the importance of sacrifice to achieve a goal. They have set an example that everyone should follow,” said Mayor Lani.
