Taguig math wizards shine in international tilt

Five students of Taguig City high schools won gold, silver,  and  bronze medals in the recently concluded 2016 International Mathematics Wizard Challenge (IMWCiC) held in Bangkok, Thailand.

The 350-strong delegation of Filipino elementary and high school students took home 34 gold, 74 silver and 132 bronze medals, with 87 merit awards in the competition that was participated in by Philippines, China, Thailand, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macau. “Our delegates achieved a very good performance in the contest and we are very happy,” said Dr. Archieval Rodriguez, president of the Mathematics Development Academy of the Philippines (MathDAP).

Mayor Lani Cayetano was elated by this latest achievement of Taguig City. She lauded the medal-winning Taguig students, saying that their performance would motivate the City to pour more resources on its education programs.

“The way our Taguig students have performed in this tough international competition convinces us that our education programs are on the right track. Their achievements demonstrate that we can compete with the world’s brightest minds, and validate once more our decision to make education a top priority,” Mayor Lani said.
